School Year
Our school year at North Star is broken up into Autumn and Spring semesters with an extended winter break which gives families time for winter/holiday travel and deep rest during the darkest days of the year.
Autumn Semester
September 8th - December 22nd
Spring Semester
January 12th - June 5th
Our program runs from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Thursday and includes a vegetarian organic lunch. Fridays are reserved for optional parent-led field trips that showcase real world experiences and encourage community engagement based on our monthly unit studies.
Public Events Calendar
Our cooperative approach fosters strong community ties and endures healthy relationships among our families. With the involvement of families, North Star becomes a more dynamic, and enriching environment where learners thrive. Through community action, collaborative efforts offer valuable lessons on the power of teamwork and cooperation.
This model helps keep tuition lower than it would be otherwise. When families work together to do service for the program, it provides a more harmonious and thriving community. Each family contributes at least 6 hours of labor each month to care for our school, create community events, and manage school initiatives that otherwise we would have to pay for. Our aim is to ensure that our skilled and diverse community can actively participate in school activities and projects throughout the year. From our community events to class visits, our collaborative model exemplifies the continuous exchange of talents, interests, and expertise.
