Natural Movement
Cultivating health and wellness through breath work and natural movement. We explore fun ways to move our bodies from foundational skills to freestyle football juggling, dance, yoga, and circus arts. Through tutorials and connections to worldwide teachers on the web, students build physical literacy and a lifelong connection to movement!
Land Stewardship
At North Star, our farm is treated as a living, interconnected ecosystem. Children help tend gardens, compost, care for animals, and observe seasonal changes, gaining hands-on understanding of food systems, conservation, and regenerative practices.
Farm to Table Arts
Students tend a collabrative group plot and harvest, prepare and share delicous meals using fresh produce they have grown. This hands on experience integrates core academics from math, nurtion, and cultural studies through engaging projects and presentations. Students gain a holistic understanding of food systems and the joy of creating nourishing meals.
Integrated Core Academics
The Drawing House is a dedicated space for project planning and academic integration. Students explore what motivates them and why their learning matters through brainstorming, research, writing, drawing, and creative expression. They connect core subjects to real-world concepts by choosing meaningful directions for their work. This dedicated time encourages students to develop ownership, purpose, and a deeper understanding of themselves as learners.
Place Based Discovery
Collaborative, place based projects bring learning to life. Whether building wildlife habitat, preserving food, or mapping wetlands, students integrate literacy, math, social science and art into real-world work. These projects foster critical thinking and a sense of purpose as students see they can have a positive impact as they participate in the broader community and landscape.
